Types Of Ausbildung
Dualeberufs Ausbildung
A dual vocational training program lasts between two and three-and-a-half years, depending on the chosen occupation. During this period, you will work at a company and attend a vocational training school. Classes usually take place several times a week or in weekly blocks, providing essential theoretical knowledge relevant to your work.
Schulische Ausbildung
Individuals pursuing a Schulische Ausbildung generally focus on fields that require more theoretical study, such as education or nursing, and therefore spend more time in classes and coursework. The practical component of a Schulische Ausbildung typically follows the classroom instruction. About 30% of the vocational training is educational and is not paid. Participants are also required to complete at least one practical training period at a company.

Duration of an Ausbildung
The Ausbildung program typically lasts between 2 to 3.5 years. However, if your performance in the company and vocational training school is strong, this duration can be shortened.
The reduction is usually minor, such as shortening the program from 3 years to 2.5 years, so the difference is minimal.
The exact duration depends on various factors, including the company you work for, the department you’re assigned to, and the vocational training school you attend.
One crucial requirement for being eligible for an Ausbildung program is proficiency in the German language.
